An experienced senior banking professional has joined Verde Corporate Finance, part of the GS Verde Group, as a non-executive director.

Dave Shalliday has enjoyed an illustrious career in the banking and finance industry, having held senior roles at RBS and most recently as regional director for Santander Corporate & Commercial.

With more than 40 years experience, predominantly in the mid-corp and commercial markets across Wales and the South West of England, his track record of working with management teams to build successful companies across many different sectors adds complementary skills and knowledge to the team at Verde.

The appointment had originally been planned for the summer of 2020, but in light of the recent Covid-19 pandemic and the associated financial pressures this could bring to many UK businesses, Shalliday agreed to bring the appointment forward, in order to help the Verde team in supporting businesses across the South West and Wales in their time of need.

"The challenges facing business across the region, the UK and indeed the wider world are unprecedented in any of our lifetimes," said Shalliday.

"What I do know from past experience of stressed markets is that the pressure on management to act decisively and quickly is exponentially greater than in a stable market. Having strong, capable and committed advisers on hand at such times is essential.

"The breadth of experience and knowledge within the team at Verde is extensive and I look forward to working with them to bring this experience to bear and to help our clients to navigate through the troubled waters ahead."
